Costa Del Churros by Isabella May @isabellamaybks @rararesources #blogtour #review #giveaway

Well well well what a way to start a Wednesday!!  What a glorious cover of chocolate dipped churros!! For those of you who haven’t experienced churros, they’re an Iberian delicacy of deep fried batter a bit like choux pastry that once cooked are coated in sugar and normally served with a thick rich chocolate sauce.  They are lush, I’m drooling at the thought of them and I can feel the waistline increasing….

Anyway we’re not here to discuss churros, well not exactly! I’m very excited to be on the blog tour on PUBLICATION DAY for Isabella May’s Costa Del Churros. And not only have I got my review to share with you but I’ve also got a wee giveaway for you to take part in!

The Blurb

The rain in Spain doesn’t mainly fall on the plain…

Brits abroad Belinda, Julia, Laura and Georgina need more than the sweetness of churros with chocolate dipping sauce to save them from their unsavoury states of affairs.

Cue Carmen Maria Abril de la Fuente Ferrera, the town’s flamboyant flamenco teacher! But can she really be the answer to their prayers?

One thing’s for sure: the Costa del Sol will never be the same again.

What Did I Think?

We’re lighthouses at our core, each and every one of us

I read Costa Del Churros in the final throws of the British Summer. So as the sun set on what hasn’t been a bad summer really, I was transported to sunny Spain for a journey of discovery for four very different women.

It took me a few chapters to get it in as it’s something completely different to my normal read.  Each chapter is dedicated to one of the four women, each with a different story to tell me but all interwoven together after a chance meeting at Carmen’s flamenco 💃 class and churros (yummy).

One night everything changes for these women. Is it a force of nature or was destined to happen. Either way, these women’s lives will never be the same again.  They all go on a bit of soul searching but not planned, just a little seed planted by the exotic Carmen about the world of flamenco and the history Of the traditional Hispanic dance and Spain.  I really enjoyed following each of the friends on their paths, each was so different and yet similar. I wanted them all to be happy in themselves on the Costa Del Sol.  the mysterious Carmen was definitely an interesting character; she seemed to say some of the most random phrases but on reflection, she hit the nail squarely on the head supporting the group on their personal discoveries.

Isabella May has written a fascinating story about love, life and friendship.  I’m looking forward to reading The Cocktail Bar and Oh! What a Pavlova (another two consumables that I love).

Who Is Isabella May?

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalucia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the sea and the mountains. When she isn’t having her cake and eating it, sampling a new cocktail on the beach, or ferrying her children to and from after school activities, she can usually be found writing. As a co-founder and a former contributing writer for the popular online women’s magazine, The Glass House Girls – – she has also been lucky enough to subject the digital world to her other favourite pastimes, travel, the Law of Attraction, and Prince (The Purple One). She has recently become a Book Fairy, and is having lots of fun with her imaginative ‘drops’! Costa del Churros is her third novel with Crooked Cat Books, following on from the hit sensations, Oh! What a Pavlova and The Cocktail Bar.

When The Waters Recede by Graham Smith @grahamsmith1972 @caffeinenights @rararesources #giveaway #review #blogblitz

When Waters Recede Cover

Whoop Whoop Whoop!!!!!  It’s finally my turn on the fantastical #blogblitz for the latest Harry Evans novel from Mr Graham Smith, When The Waters Recede. Some of you may recall that #AKnightsReads launched with my review of Past Echoes, Graham’s other series featuring hard man Jake Boulder. I also reviewed No Comment, the brutal novella that immediately proceeds When The Waters Recede. But I first discovered Graham’s writing through the gentle persuasion by the lovely Noelle Holten to read the Harry Evans series and I have not looked back!

Massive thanks to Graham Smith, Caffeine Nights and Rachel Gibley of Rachel’s Random Resources Tours for having me on the blog blitz and for my copy of When The Waters Recede! Continue reading
