WWW Wednesdays (25 January 2023)! What are you reading this week? #WWWWednesdays

Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words, the revamped take on of the meme hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. It’s open for anyone to join in and is a great way to share what you’ve been reading!

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What am I currently reading?

This week sees the return to #OperationNetgalley. I read a lot of Jonathan Kellerman’s books as a teen and young adult but not so much recently. So when I was picking my next read, this kind of spoke to me – almost like it could be a comfort read in my sorry state. Here’s the blurb:

A brilliant and dedicated psychologist, Grace Blades has a gift for treating troubled souls and tormented psyches – because she bears her own invisible scars. Only five years old when she watched her parents die in a bloody murder-suicide, Grace took refuge in her fierce intellect and found comfort in the loving couple who adopted her. But her now-accomplished life has a secret side, ruled by an insatiable desire; by night she pursues the addictive thrills of sexual trysts with strangers. And when her two worlds unexpectedly converge, Grace’s past returns with a vengeance, threatening to destroy everything she’s fought for – including her life.

Shaken by the murder of her newest patient and fearful that an investigation will expose her double life, Grace sets out to probe the crime herself. But when she stumbles on the dead man’s true identity, a horrifying chapter from her childhood is violently reawakened, forcing Grace to confront a decades-old act of evil crying out to be avenged. Suddenly stalked by dangerous men, Grace must turn to the talent for survival she’s depended on all her life in order to face down the darkest personal demon she’s ever battled: her own.

What have I recently finished reading?

Keeping up with my blog tour reads, I finished The Perfect Girl at the weekend. You can catch my review on Friday 3 February but I can say this is a twisty turny kept-me-guessing kind of thriller!

Next up was a v short read at 44 pages. We’re having slight issues with my eldest and his school’s expectations of pupils’ reading – they’re expecting to do a 10 question multiple choice quiz after each book. So I read said book and watched over as he did the quiz. Could I answer the questions?! Yes I could 😇

Then I headed into my first nonfiction read of 2023. You’ll remember I’ve promised myself at least one nonfiction read per month. As my reading mojo is a tad hit and miss, I went for a short read in Did Not Finish – contrary to the title, I did finish it!

Disaster hit on Sunday when I missed the bottom stair and went over on my foot which ballooned and went purple. So it meant I had to put my feet up and not run round after my boys… silver lining, more reading time so I whizzed through Kathryn Croft’s. The Suspect.

For those of you who are interested and haven’t seen my Facebook/Insta updates on the situation, I’ve fractured my foot and damaged a ligament. I’ve got a half leg cast on and am essentially house bound with the instructions of elevated foot and rest…. So reading it is instead of chasing after my boys or spending time sorting washing or kitchen mess!!

What am I reading next?!?

Their Resting Place is my next blog tour read at the end of February so I’m trying to get ahead of myself and with any luck, I’ll be a month ahead with booked in reads!!

So guys, what have you been reading??
