WWW Wednesdays (13 July 2022)! What are you reading this week? #WWWWednesdays

Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words, the revamped take on of the meme hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. It’s open for anyone to join in and is a great way to share what you’ve been reading!

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What am I currently reading?

I read The Sanatorium last year and really enjoyed Sarah Pearse’s rather chilling debut so I jumped at the chance to read an early copy of The Retreat. It’s out next Thursday when I’ll be posting my review (all being well). Here’s the blurb:

This is a warning for all our guests at the wellness retreat.

A woman’s body has been found at the bottom of the cliff beneath the yoga pavilion.

We believe her death was a tragic accident, though DS Elin Warner has arrived on the island to investigate.

A storm has been forecast, but do not panic. Stick together and please ignore any rumours you might have heard about the island and its history.

As soon as the weather clears, we will arrange boats to take you back to the mainland.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy your stay.

What have I recently finished reading?

So last week was a particularly difficult week for me: my eldest left primary school so not only was I playing taxi driver for performances and his leavers party, but I was also in a heightened emotional state. Thankfully as Saturday came, I felt more like myself and my reading mojo returned 🎉🎉

Reading wise, I polished off my beta read. Great read, kinda bit action thrillery. Like I said last week, no idea when it’s going to be out.

I flew through debut novel The Hive. Cracking take on heartbreak and revenge!! I’ll be reviewing it next Thursday (21st) on publication day. Another read ticked off the #20BooksOfSummer list!

What am I reading next?!?

Next planned read is from a new author to me, Tim Adler. I’m on the blog tour in a couple of weeks so I might try and squeeze in something else from my #20BooksOfSummer list.

So guys, what have you been reading??

  1. I’m reading Anna McNuff’s The Pants of Perspective, about running along the whole of New Zealand (OK but a bit of a slog as it’s quite long!) for 20 Books of Summer and just finished on my Kindle from my July NetGalley reads Finding Mr Perfectly Fine by Tasneem Abdur-Rashid (Muslim romance novel, quite good but explained too much so will annoy Muslim readers), and am about to start How to Raise an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi (interesting as I’ve not read his main Antiracist books). Next in print books will probably have to be Larry McMurtry’s Moving On, which is about 800 pages (but I know it will go fast) – I have a week off next week, though, so plenty of reading time.
