For my second post today, I’m joining the blog tour for Gabriel Galletti’s debut Best Served Cold. I’ll admit, when I saw it was set in Leeds, I was sold instantly! Who doesn’t love reading a book set in their home city?!
Massive thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours for inviting me to join the blog tour and for my e-copy of Best Served Cold.
The Blurb
“Revenge is a dish best served cold.”
Grudges harboured and hatreds hidden but not forgotten.
Then a catalyst ignites the flame…
Someone in Leeds is settling old scores.
The Police ask Chad Hilton, an ex-pro footballer turned criminal profiler, for help. But his wife’s infidelity and his addiction to painkillers are pushing him close to the edge.
As the body count rises, can Chad uncover the murderer before his demons destroy him?

What Did I Think?
Meet Chad, ex-footballer turned profiler. He was a good footballer and he’s not so bad at the criminal psychology work either. But he’s got baggage and baggage that could kill him and get him in serious trouble with the police.
I rather liked Chad. He’s a different sort of lead character for a police procedural kind of crime thriller. He plays devil’s advocate backslash bad cop when he’s down at the Leeds Police HQ and he’s not afraid to ruffle the feathers of the detectives on the team. But if that’s what it takes to generate leads, why the hell not?!
The imagery Galletti uses of Leeds is bang on. Having lived in this glorious, ever changing city for 20 years, I could follow the story intimately able to picture exactly where my characters were.
I flew through the book, wanting to know who this horrible attacker was. Best Served Cold is a cracking start to a new and unique crime series and I’m looking forward to getting to know Chad, Lee, Jas and Freddie a lot better! Bring on book 2!
Who Is Gabriel Galletti?

It’s said that everyone has a book in them…But do they?
After a forty year career in business spanning four continents, Gabriel Galletti sat at the keyboard and began to write. Could he do it? Indeed should he do it?
One Pandemic and three lockdowns later, and with huge assistance from Cornerstones Literary Agency and fantastic thriller writers
Mark Leggatt and Neil Broadfoot, all Gabriel’s passions – Yorkshire, Crime Thrillers and Leeds United have come together to produce his debut novel Best Served Cold.
Best Served Cold is the first in a series set in Leeds and introducing Chad Hilton as the flawed ex-footballer turned profiler.
Thanks very much for your great review. I’m delighted that I was able to convey the right impressions of Leeds to a local! Chad and the crew are back in Autumn 2022!
