WWW Wednesdays (27 April 2022)! What are you reading this week? #WWWWednesdays

Welcome to this week’s WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words, the revamped take on of the meme hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm. It’s open for anyone to join in and is a great way to share what you’ve been reading!

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What am I currently reading?

I’m back on my nonfiction reading with a book that I hope will give me some tips and techniques for managing some of the stress I feel at work. This has come at a timely point as I’ve been feeling under pressure recently and the end isn’t yet in sight. Here’s the blurb:

For some, there is a high price to pay for ambition and success. The toll it can take on our mental health can be significant, particularly if we are born with the ‘Worry’ gene.

In Beat Stress at Work, management trainer Mark Simmonds helps you understand the effects stress and anxiety can have on your mental health and provides tools and advice to find your way through work-induced struggles.

Through sharing his own brutally honest journey and using his corporate experience, Mark sheds light on the difficulty of discussing mental health with colleagues and employers and identifies the best ways for navigating your way through a mental health crisis. The book:
• Encourages you to maintain positive mental health by better understanding yourself and finding a career that suits your most authentic self.
• Shows you how to return safely to the workplace after a period of mental ill health and communicate effectively with your peers and managers.
• Demonstrates how your resilience ‘muscle’ can help you fulfil your ambitions in the professional arena, while being mindful of your mental health.
• Pinpoints some of the key lessons from COVID-19 about stress management and the working environment.

Through the advice in this book, you will learn that your mental health issues may not be the barriers you view them as but may hold value in the workplace. Mark shows you that it is possible to be ambitious and successful at work because of, not in spite of, the mental health challenges you may face.

What have I recently finished reading?

This brace of books I devoured over the weekend. I’ve had Strangers sat on my Netgalley shelf for two years now 😔😔 which I’m ashamed of as I love Cally Taylor’s writing!

MQ Webb is a new author to me and when I got the email call for the blog tour, I couldn’t resist this striking yet simple cover!

I started The Vanishing Triangle last Thursday but at 30% in I had to admit defeat. I wasn’t getting on with the style of writing so didn’t feel invested. I will give it another go when I feel more relaxed about work as I do want to know more.

What am I reading next?!?

Tell Me Your Lies is my next blog tour read but as it’s bank holiday weekend here in the UK, I might squeeze in something else beforehand!

So guys, what have you been reading??
