Heartcross Castle by Christie Barlow @christiejbarlow @0neMoreChapter_ @rararesources #blogtour #bookreview

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to the opening day of the blog tour for Heartcross Castle, the 7th book in the Love Heart Lane series by Christie Barlow.

Massive thank you to Rachel Gibley of Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me on the blog tour and to One More Chapter for my advanced e-copy of Heartcross Castle that I received through Netgalley. I also preordered a copy that arrived on my kindle on New Year’s Eve.

The Blurb

Love Heart Lane – where friends are there for you no matter what

A second chance…

When her grandfather Marley passes away Grace Power discovers she’s been left the beautiful but crumbling estate of Heartcross Castle. As a single mum of three, Grace has no idea what she’s going to do with it – but who can say no to a roof over their kids’ heads and a chance to get away from past hurts?

And a forever home

Heartcross Castle is full of secrets – especially a lost security deposit box that holds the truth to everything… But when celebrity chef Andrew Glossop sets his eyes on the castle and, to make matters worse, mistakes Grace as the new housekeeper, Grace tells him there is absolutely NO CHANCE he is getting his hands on her home.

Devastated to have got it so wrong, Andrew will do anything to make it up to her – but is she willing to listen?

What Did I Think?

Grace is on the run, running from a life of misery to a life she previously ran away from – confused? Don’t be! Grace left Heartcross for freedom and independence which gradually was taken away from her.

Returning to Heartcross isn’t easy for Grace but it’s something she needs to do… and as I fully well know “once Heartcross gets its claws into you, you don’t go anywhere.” That’s true for this reader as well as the characters! Barlow has the knack of painting a beautiful idyllic backdrop for my journeys to Heartcross. I wish it was somewhere I could visit (and live)!

This is another emotional rollercoaster from Barlow. The reunions between the friends after so long was heartwarming. My heart really wanted Grace to make Heartcross her home, her happy place but with parties interested in the castle, limited funds and a family to look after, I feared she would have her head turned.

I devoured Heartcross Castle in two sittings, only breaking to make lunch for my boys. I was sucked into this return-to-your-roots tale with limited argument. It was just the tonic I needed to escape the stresses of the crazy real world we’re in.
