Happy Good Friday everyone!!! I’m thrilled to hosting the blog tour for Sarah Lawton’s All The Little Things.
A massive thank you to Emma Welton of damppebbles blog tours for inviting me on the blog tour and my e-copy of All The Little Things.
Never trust anyone. Never trust yourself.
Rachel has made poor decisions in the past, but she has always tried her best for her daughter. When Vivian needed a fresh start, Rachel didn’t hesitate to move them far from London. She just wishes she could shake the nagging doubt that Vivian is hiding something.
Vivian isn’t like other teenagers. On the surface she seems the same as her friends, but she knows she is different. When enigmatic Alex takes an interest in her, Vivian’s cool demeanour hides an intensity of feeling she has never known before. His touch sets her skin on fire.
Mother and daughter are both keeping secrets. But just how dangerous are they? As lust and anger give way to violence Rachel will have to decide: is she prepared to give up everything for her child? Even her own life?
A taut and gripping psychological thriller about toxic families, secrets and life-or-death decisions. Don’t miss this if you’re a fan of He Said/She Said, Good Me, Bad Me and The Girlfriend.
What Did I Think?
Meet Rachel and Vivian, mother and daughter. Living out in the sticks after they started their lives together in the big smoke. Why would a single mum want to bring her daughter up alone in a more wholesome place than the familiar metropolis of London? Why indeed! This is the question that sat with me throughout.
Rachel, for me, felt she always had a battle on her hands. Her life seemed complicated despite the move to the quiet village. I liked Rachel, even if she was maybe overly protective over her daughter but the more I read, the more I questioned why!
I felt for Vivian. She has teenage angst a plenty. Keeping secrets left, right and centre for everyone and herself. How much can one teenager take? And the relationship with her mum isn’t the best. The relationship with her best friend…. well that’s an interesting one!
Now, Alex – I really didn’t make of this young man… he is mysterious.. as the blurb says “enigmatic”…. yes…. he was someone I was very wary of!
Lawson has written a slowburner, carefully building tension brick by brick to keep me reading and asking questions of these characters. I was drawn into this private petite family, wanting to know more and more their secrets. Yet another fab debut that 2021 has thrown at me.
