Blackstoke by Rob Parker @RobParkerAuthor @RedDogTweets #bookreview #blogtour

Happy Monday everyone!!!! I’m delighted to be welcoming the blog tour for Rob Parker’s Blackstoke to A Knight’s Reads.

Massive thanks to the lovely Meggy Roussel for inviting me on the blog tour and to Red Dog Press for my advanced e-copy of Blackstoke. I also bought myself a paperback direct from the publisher.

The Blurb

In a quiet cul-de-sac on the newly-opened, much sought-after Blackstoke housing development, the first handful of families are moving in. These neighbours, thrown together for the first time, are looking forward to settling into their bright new lives—with varying degrees of enthusiasm. The estate couldn’t be nicer, but it’s a big change for everyone.

Then things start to happen. Bad things. As if something doesn’t want them there.

As the new residents try to make sense of events, the buried history of the area makes itself suddenly, deeply apparent—with a series of shocking, violent escalations.

Soon, no one is safe, as the original powers of Blackstoke return to reclaim their territory and birth right in a final night of dark revelations, gore and bloodshed.

What Did I Think?

Living the dream in Blackstoke – a rather exclusive housing estate, gated community, 24 hour security. How could life be better? Well decent neighbours would be good too. And what a mixed bunch it is in this little community. But the people next door are the least of their worries.

Enter stage left some very strange goings on. Some of the neighbours are pointing the finger of blame at others around this little cul-de-sac until one night…. when all hell breaks loose!

Yes about half way through, this rather unassuming thriller hits 6th gear. Parker pulled no punches as he took me on a journey like no other. Where normal everyday people have to take on whatever is causing these strange goings on. And bejeezus, that climax! Good god man, I did not see that coming!!! Holy moly!!!

This book was my first encounter of Parker’s writing despite me owning some of the Ben Bracken series – I have no doubt they will offer a different perspective of this northern’s writing but I expect something equally as hard hitting and addictive. I defy anyone who can fathom out what or who is tormenting the folk of Blackstoke – totally unexpected!!! Parker has pulled one helluva rabbit out of the writing hat. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
