Cover-Witch Hunter

And for my second post of the day, I’m heading north … far north … to cold and snowy Finland with The Witch Hunter by Max Seeck.

Huge thanks to Megan Denholm of ed.pr for inviting me on the blog tour and and to Welbeck Publishing Group and ed.pr for my advanced copy of The Witch Hunter.

The Blurb

WHEN THE STORY ENDS, THE HUNT BEGINS . . .

Detective Jessica Niemi is drawn into a high-profile investigation after the wife of a famous author, Roger Koponen, appears to have been killed in a bizarre ritual.

As more twisted murders occur in the coming days, it becomes obvious that Jessica is hunting a serial killer – one that is taking brutal inspiration from Koponen’s bestselling trilogy . . .

Has a devoted fan lost their mind, or is this case more personal?

Nobody is safe in this rollercoaster thriller from award-winning author Max Seeck.

What Did I Think?

Oh my … what a web of intrigue I had before me. A rather extravagant killer replicating a fictional work … in Jessica Niemi’s world I’d be questioning why some ingenious killer had never done this before… well they probably have just not using such a renowned work as their inspiration and not using the author’s spouse as their first victim… and so starts the dramatically dark Nordic Noir that is The Witch Hunter.

This killer is playing games with the police. They’re taunting them with the bodies, letting pop up in front of the baffled detectives or entirely publicising their location. What an evil twisted yet anonymous adversary!!

However intermingled with this chilling (in both senses of the word) police investigation are flashbacks to Jessica’s past. To a holiday in Italia! But how do the chapters in Italy fit in? They flummoxed me throughout! What was Seeck trying to show me with these titbits from Jessica’s Mediterranean jaunt??!

There is more to Jessica than meets the eye. I want to know more about this detective. I seriously enjoyed my first encounter with this tenacious committed police detective. I can’t wait for my reunion with her! Bring in Book 2!!
