Happy Saturday everyone! In what should be the height of the traditional wedding season, I’m delighted to be sharing my review of Annette Hannah’s debut Wedding Bells At The Signal Box Cafe.
Huge thanks to the lovely Annette for the invite to join her blog tour and to Orion Dash for my e-copy of Wedding Bells At The Signal Box Cafe which I received through Netgalley. I also bought myself a copy from Amazon.
When single mum Lucy Woods moves to Railway Cottage to be near her grandad, the last person she wants to bump into is her childhood crush and best friend’s brother Dom. Whilst he is as arrogant as ever, he has grown up into an absolutely drop dead gorgeous hunk. Dominic Cavendish is a bitter divorce lawyer who doesn’t believe in Happy Ever Afters but when his Gran meets Lucy’s Grandad in the nursing home, hilarity ensues, and the sparks begin to fly.
What Did I Think?
Every so often a book comes to you that you’re nervous about reading. For me, it’s a debut, particularly in a genre where I’m a fussy reader. So I was a little nervous about reading Annette Hannah’s debut. But with the prologue and a chapter read, I had nothing to worry about! I was captivated into this beautifully written novel.
Lucy is a gorgeously warm character. Her son Jackson is her world but then her grandad needs her close by and she moves into his quaint country cottage. This is her opportunity to start a new life away from her past. As she settles into life in Bramblewood, Lucy hits a whirlwind of establishing up her fledgling wedding planning business and renovating the old signal box. The journey Lucy goes on as she spreads her roots in this beautiful location isn’t the smoothest but it was a journey I loved following Lucy on. Watching her grow and flourish in this close knit community was a joy! I was totally overwhelmed with emotion as the story reached its climax.
I have a few trusted non-crime authors whose books I read when I need something lighter to read. Annette Hannah is being added to that list! Can’t wait for book two and beyond!
Who Is Annette Hannah?
Annette Hannah is a Liver Bird who relocated to leafy Hertfordshire in the 80’s and now lives near a river with her husband, two of their three grown up children and a crazy black cocker spaniel. She writes romantic comedies in settings inspired by the beautiful countryside around her and always with a nod to her hometown. As an avid reader, she became a book blogger and eventually realised her dream to become an author in 2020.
She loves long walks along the river, travelling to far flung places, the odd glass of Pinot Blush and spending time with her friends and family.
