Brilliant Books I’ve Read in 2018….

I wasn’t going to do a top 10 or 20 of what I’ve read this year but a woman’s allowed to change her mind right? It’s been a phenomenal year for books and particularly crime fiction! I’ve been lucky enough to read some fantastic books over the past 12 months.

So I’ve randomly picked some of the amazing books I’ve read this year. Some authors I’ve selected I’ve read more than one of their books this year so I’ve only picked one of their books. And I wish I could have picked more but if I didn’t stop, I’d be listing all the way into next year! The books I’ve picked are in no particular order other than possibly a rough reverse order of posting!

But to start with, a brief round up of my reading this year.

According to Goodreads, I’ve read 103 books. This doesn’t include the eight(!) beta reads (some of which I’ve gone on to read in the total) and it doesn’t include the six that I’ve read but not marked as finished. So really I’ve read 117 books!

I’ve discovered 53 new authors, both debut writers and those whose books I’m late to the party with!

Anyway…..let’s get on with this! If you’ve missed my review or want to catch it again, click on the book cover and you should get there 🤞🤞

The Rumour by Lesley Kara
Keep Your Friends Close by June Taylor
In Her Shadow by Mark Edwards
The Cry by Helen Fitzgerald
The Lion Tamer Who Lost by Louise Beech
The Hangman’s Hold by Michael Wood
Truth And Lies by Caroline Mitchell
Before Her Eyes by Jack Jordan
Perfect Ten by Jacqueline Ward
Guess Who by Chris McGeorge
Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh
The Death and Life of Eleanor Parker by Kerry Wilkinson
Tubing by K.A. McKeagney
The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton
The Devil’s Dice by Roz Watkins
Don’t Tell A Soul by D.K. Hood
Past Echoes by Graham Smith

I’ve got to mention Tony Kent’s Killer Intent. I only finished it a couple of days ago so not reviewed it yet…but it’s bloomin’ brilliant!

  1. I have read 5 of them :-). One of them is on my fav list this year and The Perfect Girlfriend was on my list last year, such a great novel! There are quite a few others I still want to read.. The Rumour is definitely one of them. That novel is becoming a real hype! Great list Claire!
