Woooo hoooooo I’m thrilled to be closing what has been an epic blog tour for Mel Sherratt’s Hush Hush. I love Mel’s previous books so I was very excited to receive a copy of her latest novel!
Big thanks to Sabah Khan at Avon Books for inviting me on the blog tour and for my copy of Hush Hush.
A killer is on the loose, attacking people in places they feel most safe: their workplaces, their homes. It’s up to DS Grace Allendale to stop the murders, and prove herself to her new team.
All clues lead to local crime family the Steeles, but that’s where things get complicated. Because the Steeles aren’t just any family, they’re Grace’s family. Two brothers and two sisters, connected by the violent father only Grace and her mother escaped.
To catch the killer, Grace will have to choose between her team and her blood. But who do you trust, when both sides are out to get you?
An unforgettable thriller that fans of Martina Cole and Cara Hunter won’t be able to put down.
What Did I Think?
Is blood thicker than water? Grace is returning to her home town from which she fled many years ago. Will it be a welcome return or will she live to regret it? Whichever way, it’s a baptism of fire as she is thrown into a murder investigation linked to her gangster family.
As each body dropped, my brain jumped around the suspects trying to fathom out who out of the people I’d met so far could possibly be bumping people off on such a brutal way. My thoughts could not settle on a culprit until half way through but I’m not going to say whether I was wrong or right… #nospoilers
I liked the way the story had the sporadic chapters telling a young girl’s horrific experiences. Obviously I didn’t “enjoy” what happened but it split the investigation up and bring into question who was suffering at the hands of an elder.
I’ve been enjoying Mel Sherratt’s writing for the past few years since I read Follow The Leader featuring DS Allie Shenton who makes a brief appearance in Hush Hush. She’s a great sounding board for Grace as she finds her feet in the team and settles back in to familiar if not different surroundings.
This is a cracking gritty crime thriller from Ms Sherratt. I’m really looking forward to getting to know Grace and the rest of the team much better as this series develops!
